Here's how I got started...
Growing up, the path after high school seemed obvious: go to college, graduate with a bachelor's, get hired immediately after college and kick off my professional career. After a few bumps in deciding my major, I landed on Communications - and I loved it! It was a blend of creative skills and technical skills that complemented both sides of myself. I was especially drawn towards the classes that had to do with websites. They were just so fascinating!
After graduation, I was offered a year-long internship, which I happily accepted. When it ended, I started sending out my professional resume. My resume shows plenty of work experience and a wide range of skills, it's not gonna take long until my next job, right?
9 months and +250 applications (and rejections) later I've been unable to find my next job. What the heck?! That's not how getting a degree is supposed to go!
So, what’s a person to do with all that extra time? Simple: Learn a new program. I dove into becoming an expert on the Showit platform, experimenting with layouts, design tools, and customizations until I got the hang of it. Website design is what I like to do, so why wait? That's how I decided to start employing myself as a Showit designer.
